The cleanliness of the fuel system is paramount. Diesel fuel is easily contaminated with moisture and impurities during transportation and storage, leading to fuel injector wear, fuel line blockage, and incomplete combustion over time. Regularly drain water from the bottom of the fuel tank, inspect and clean the fuel filter, and replace the filter element if necessary. For units that are not used for extended periods, add a standard stabilizer to the fuel tank to prevent fuel oxidation and gumming. Fuel lines should be kept sealed; any leaks should be repaired promptly to prevent fires or insufficient fuel supply.
The maintenance of the lubrication system directly affects engine lifespan. Engine oil not only reduces friction but also provides cooling, cleaning, and rust prevention. Engine oil and oil filter should be changed according to the cycle and grade specified in the equipment manual. Before changing the oil, check its quality; if it is dark brown, emulsified, or contains obvious particles, it must be replaced earlier. Before starting, ensure the engine oil level is between the upper and lower limits on the dipstick to avoid abnormal wear of the bearings and camshaft due to insufficient oil.
The cooling system must ensure heat dissipation efficiency. For air-cooled units, clean the air inlet and outlet vents and radiator surface to ensure unobstructed airflow. For water-cooled units, regularly check the coolant level and concentration, and replenish or replace antifreeze as needed to prevent overheating or freezing due to a lowered boiling point or higher freezing point. The thermostat and water pump belt should also be included in the inspection scope; abnormal tightness or aging will affect circulation efficiency.
The key to maintaining the electrical and control systems is connection reliability and insulation. Regularly check the battery terminal voltage and electrolyte specific gravity, keep the terminals clean and tight to prevent starting failures; check the generator output cable joints for oxidation and looseness, and replace any cracked or damaged insulation immediately. Control panels and sensors should be kept dry and clean to avoid false alarms or malfunctions.
Furthermore, external cleanliness is crucial. Dust and oil accumulation on the generator surface not only affect heat dissipation but may also mask potential rust or cracks. Wipe with a soft cloth and neutral detergent; never use high-pressure water to directly spray electrical components. During operation, listen for abnormal noises, observe the color of exhaust smoke and instrument parameters; if any deviations from normal ranges are detected, immediately stop the generator and investigate.
